November 29, 2022 – Last week, NBC News Bay Area featured two stories about the great work that the Pinole Police Department is doing to keep people in our community safe.

One of the stories highlighted the pioneering and compassionate techniques that the Pinole Police Department uses to help those in need while on patrol. A young man with limited speech was reported to be stepping in and out of traffic in Pinole, an unsafe situation. Officer Black arrived on the scene, ushered the young man to a safe location, and provided comfort until the young man was reunited with his family. Officer Black gave the young man with a teddy bear, sat him in a warm car, and bought him breakfast. Officer Black was able to find the young man’s family, from Fremont, through social media. He was reunited with his family just in time for Thanksgiving.

“We just do whatever we can here in Pinole. It’s the Pinole way,” Officer Black said.

The other story was about a French bulldog that was stolen during a home robbery last week. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the Pinole Police Department, the dog was found and returned home safe.
