HOME BUSINESS
I would like to operate a business out of my home. What do I need to do?

You must fill out the business license application form as well as the home occupation application. If you are not the homeowner, the property owner must sign the home occupation form. Be sure to visit Startup Resources and Business Info for additional information.

Do contractors located outside of Pinole need a business license?

Yes, outside contractors (and subcontractors) are required to obtain a business license for all work being performed in Pinole. You have the option to take the license out for one quarter (will expire 3 months from the date it was taken out or at end of that year), half-year (expires in 6 months or at end of that year) or a full year (will always expire on 12/31 of that year). I am a contractor living in pinole, but I do my work in cities other than Pinole. Do I need a business license?3. I am a contractor living in Pinole or having a fixed place of business in Pinole. What type of license do I need?

You fall into the same category as any other fixed or home-based business in Pinole and are required to obtain and renew your business license each year, regardless of ever having any specific jobs in Pinole or not.
