Single-use Plastics Expo

City-hosted interactive expo where residents and businesses can come and view new technologies and products within the compostable food ware space. Drop by any time between 9am-1pm!






Native Plant Workshop & Plant Sale
Native Plants

 9am-1pm Location: Community Corner (lot at the intersection between Tennent Ave. & San Pablo Ave.)
Oaktown Nursery will be at the Community Corner to showcase a variety of native plants for sale and provide education on water conservation through native gardening. EDMUD information will be available about incentives for converting lawns to native gardens. Drop by anytime between 9am-1pm!







Community Clean-up

The Friends of the Pinole Creek will lead a community clean-up focused on sprucing up the delicate Pinole Creek ecosystem. Snacks, water and tools are provided. Wear boots and sunscreen. Bring a refillable water bottle.

Officer Natasha from the Pinole Police Department will be a guest reader during family story time at the library. She will read the children an Earth Day story selected by the Pinole Library team.






 

Pinole Earth Walk
Earth WalkDate: Saturday, April 22

Fernandez Park, 595 Tennent Ave.
Join your friends and neighbors in a walking pledge to protect the planet. Meet at Fernandez Park. The walk will begin promptly at 9am. The paved path is approximately 3.1 miles and will loop around the Bay Trail and end back at Fernandez Park. Join us after the walk for a community gathering at the park. Furry friends are welcome if they are leashed at all times. Get creative and have some fun! Dress up in bright colors or an earth-theme, paint your faces, or bring earth-friendly flags or signs. Most importantly, wear comfy walking shoes and bring a reusable container for water. FREE event. Registration required.

Learn how to effectively convert food waste into soil with Free & Virtual Worm and Home Composting Virtual Workshops offered by the Contra Costa County Department of Conservation and Development. Worm composting (or vermicomposting) relies on worms to make soil, while Home composting relies on bacteria. Contact Maureen Parkes with questions.
