Before & After School Care Program and Transportation
Who: Children grades 1st-8th
When: Monday – Friday (according to WCCUSD Schedule)
Before Care: 6:30 am - WCCUSD Start Time
After Care: WCCUSD dismissal - 6:00pm
Onsite After Care now available at Shannon Elementary for Shannon Students only grades 1 6,
dismissal to 6pm (register @ PYC, Shannon has a reduced fee for 2009-2010 school year only).

Transportation provided to and from Pinole Public Schools Only!
Elementary age and middle school youth will enjoy this safe, supervised, and fun program providing homework help, arts, sports, cooking, intergenerational activities, computer access, games, workshops, yoga and youth leadership. Transportation from Pinole public schools is provided by Youth Center staff driving city vehicles at an additional cost. Payment is due by the 20th of every month. Late fees will be strictly enforced. Come on by and learn how to save your space for the school year. Space is limited. Car seats will be used in accordance with state law.
To receive a registration form, call the Recreation Department at (510) 741-2999 to have one sent to you.
If leaving a voicemail message, please be sure to spell out your name and address to have a form mailed to you or spell out your e-mail address to have a form e-mailed and specify that it is for the Youth Programming.

- On the home page, scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Click on the “Online Rec Registration” icon and follow the prompts.

- Fill out the registration form and enclose a check payable to the City of Pinole or complete the credit card portion of the payment form.

Restrictions may apply. Unless otherwise indicated, pre-registration is required for all programs and all programs take place at the Pinole Youth Center (PYC). Register at PYC Monday-Friday. We accept cash, check, Visa and MasterCard. School dismissal, activities, and times are based upon the WCCUSD Pinole School schedules. Scholarships available.

Camp Info:
Pinole Summer Camp is filled with sports, cooking, games, arts & crafts, local field trips to the Pinole Swim Center, Pinole Parks, the Pinole Bowling Alley, Pinole Sports & Fitness Facility and much, much more! Plus every Wednesday ALL CAMPS go on an exciting full day field trip to different locations around the Bay Area. Field Trip locations are based on age groups.

2010 LIT Summer Camp Registration Packet
Registration is based on a first come, first served basis, per week. Participants may pre-register by paying a $25 non-refundable fee that is applied to the cost of camp for that week. Note: Full payments are due the Tuesday before by 5:00PM or the $25 fee and the space for that week are forfeited. A $25 cancellation fee will be charged for weeks that have already been paid in full. If you do cancel, please do so by the Tuesday before the week you are registered, or the entire amount will be forfeited. There is a $15 charge to transfer from one week to another. Financial Aid is available. Applications for aid due April 30th.

Freshi Films
Freshi Films gives an introduction to digital animation. Children can experience digital film making, game design & stop motion animation with the guidance of professionals in the digital film industry.

Digital Film Making • Ages 8 – 12
A hands-on, immersive introduction to digital filmmaking. Students work in small groups to make a film and each student will experience all aspects of production. Under the guidance of professional filmmakers, students will pitch, plan, shoot, edit, screen, and score their movies.

Freshi Game Design • Ages 12 – 15
Kids work in groups to develop, design, debug and distribute their own 2D games. Using special software, students create their game without having to learn actual programming. They can also put their own music, video, animations and photos into their games with a simple click. Don’t just play games– play your own game!

Stop Motion Animation • Ages 8 – 12
Kids work on a crew to create an animated film. With the guidance of professional filmmakers young students decide how they will create their characters (construction paper cut outs, Lego Figures, Action Figures, etc.) to imagine, plan, shoot and edited their own films.

Animation for Kids • Ages 5 – 7
An animation class designed for little ones. Using action figures and lego, kids will learn how to make a character come to life and move. Together they will create and shoot a short film with lots of action and plenty of giggles.

Play-Well TEKnologies Lego Camp
Play-Well TEKnologies provides project-based programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering to grades Kindergarten through 5th, utilizing LEGO® for over 10 years. Utilizing over 100,000 pieces of LEGO® for each camp, we strive to build students’ problem solving skills, foster a greater appreciation of how things work, and encourage the qualities of inquisitiveness, self-reliance, and self-confidence in children.

Engineering FUNdamentals with Legos • Ages 7 – 12
Design & build motorized machines, catapults, pyramids, demolition derby cars, truss & suspension bridges, buildings & other constructions. Explore concepts in physics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering & architecture while playing with your favorite creations. This is a hands-on and minds-on class suitable for LEGO building novices to “maniacs”. Returning students will work on new projects & challenges.

Create, Play & Learn. Build a town, city, or star base with houses, buildings, pyramids, bridges, tunnels, towers, and more. Build motorized cars, trains, busses, and trucks; crash them; repair them. Explore the many possibilities of LEGO building systems while learning useful construction techniques.

Extended Care for DIGITAL ARTS & ENGINERING Camps only
The Pinole Youth Center is offering an extended care camp for Lego and Freshi participants who want a full day of camp. Participants may partake in activities both onsite and offsite during non-Lego/Freshi hours, including swimming, bowling, movies, cooking, arts & crafts, sports, and more. Extended Care extends the camp day to 9:00am – 6:00pm and includes a full day on Friday for Freshi Film camps. Note: This is a supplement to Lego and Freshi Camps, and therefore only Lego and Freshi Camp Participants make enroll in the PYC Extended Care Camp. Since 1979, Kidz Love Soccer has been dedicated to teaching children the world’s most popular sport within a nurturing, recreational environment. Introduce yourself and your toddler to the “World’s Most Popular Game”! As you and your child participate in our fun age appropriate activities, your child will be developing their large motor skills and socialization skills. A variety of activities designed around the game of soccer will be played each week. The fun happens on the field, and in Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer, you won’t have to watch from the sidelines.
Pre-Soccer - Ages 4 – 5

Teaches the basic techniques of the game and builds self-esteem through participation and fun soccer activities. Children learn to follow instructions in a nurturing, age appropriate environment.
