City of Pinole: Tiny Tots

The City of Pinole Recreation Department offers two preschool progams for children 2 years 9 months to 5 years of age. These programs are designed to offer your child both a social and educational experience. Activities include age appropriate academics, crafts, cutting with scissors, using glue and paste, painting, circle time, show & tell, music, science, and storytime.

The Tuesday-Thursday classes are designed for your child's first preschool experience. Learning activities emphasize social skills, following directions, small and large motor development, and an introduction to shapes, colors, and sizes.

Our Pre-Kindergarten programs on Monday-Wednesday-Friday for 4-year-olds build on the skills learned in the Tuesday-Thursday class and introduce ideas and concepts they will need in Kindergarten the following fall, including numbers (pre-math), letters (pre-reading), recognizing their printed name and printing it themselves. The Pre-Kindergarten class offers "hands-on" cooking experiences such as making applesauce, pasta, baking cookies, or mixing dough. They also have further opportunities to develop their fine and large motor skills.

Three 12-week sessions are offered during the regular school year as well as a Summer Session. The cost of each class is listed below.

2008-2009 SESSION

Registration: Registration for Tiny Tots is held at the Tiny Tot Center, 2454 Simas Avenue (at the Swim Center), Pinole, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on a "space available" basis. Advance registration is available for Pinole Residents. Class size for our Monday-Wednesday-Friday Pre-Kindergarten classes (both am and pm) are 30 students and 20 students for our Tuesday-Thursday Preschool class. Please call for registration dates.

Eligibility: Pre-Kindergarten classes are for children who will be attending Kindergarten the following fall. Preschool classes are for children who are at least 2 years, and 9 months old by September 1st. All participants must be completely potty-trained (no pull-ups) and provide proof of immunization at the time of registration.

Fees: A $25.00 non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration. Proof of residency is required (PG&E bill and driver's license). Make checks or money orders payable to the City of Pinole. If you are paying by cash, please have exact change. We also accept Visa and Mastercard.

Pre-K Morning Class (M-W-F 9:00am-12:00noon):
Resident: $394 in full or $136 per month
Non-Resident: $457 in full or $157 per month
Pre-K Afternoon Class (M-W-F 1:00-3:30pm):
Resident: $328 in full or $114 per month
Non-Resident: $378 in full or $131 per month
Preschool Class (T-Th 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.):
Resident: $209 in full or $75 per month
Non-Resident: $246 in full or $87.00 per month
