The City of Pinole announced today that due to budgetary constraints and staffing shortages, the City of Pinole is making a revision to the counter hours for acquiring building and encroachment permits. The City of Pinole, Development Services Department has been issuing permits 40 hours a week, and it is no longer possible given our current resources.

The department has lost a variety of positions over the last three years due to budget reductions including all three of the Counter Technicians that used to be responsible for issuing permits over the counter. At this time, permits will be issued by the Building Inspector, Public Works Inspector, Planning Manager and Development Services Director only during specified hours.

Effective March 19, the counter hours for building and encroachment permits will be issued as follows:

• Monday through Thursday: 10:30 AM to Noon and 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM
• Friday: City Hall is Closed/No Permits will be Issued

Staff will do their best to be as productive and efficient as possible. Applications for business and encroachment permits will be available during regular counter hours which are Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. They will be processed as soon as possible and sent back to the customer making the request.
