Join the Pinole Artisans and the City Council as they celebrate the unveiling of the Artisans' bead mosaics at a reception on August 3, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. The reception will be held at Pinole City Hall Plaza, 2131 Pear Street, where the mosaics will be permanently installed.
The Artisans created the project utilizing a Community Group Funding grant from the Redevelopment Agency. The seven mosaics are handcrafted from multi-colored beads depicting the City crest and historical scenes.
The "Pinole Through the Ages" theme depicts life in Pinole during different historical eras from the pre-historic to the current day. Using original photographs provided by Pinole Historical Society, local artists created scenes representative of life in Pinole during each of the eras. Over a number of months, the Artisans beaded each mosaic by hand and finished each with a protective resin coating. The resulting mosaics are colorful and artistic representations of Pinole's rich history.
